When creating a new website or forum do you tend to just dive in and start adding content that you believe are relevant to your niche/concept...or do you tend to draft your ideas first? If you do begin by drafting...do you do so manually (as in like, paper and pen for example) or some kind of computer tool?
I find myself just diving in and letting the website or forum develop on its own depending on the needs of members and/or visitors. From my experience though that is not always the most efficient thing to do because at a glance initially it could look like a mess or the alternative side of things...empty.

Hmm, well I haven't created a new forum in years, so I will adapt this to my website, which I'm in the process of rebuilding right now. I don't plan out my idea of the layout at all really, I'm just letting it come as I go. But part of that is because I have to find a template that I can work with first, so unless I want to dive into learning all about coding from scratch (which I don't really have the time or patience for), my options are limited to what I can find already put together.

No, I've never done it that way. I've kind of done it the same way as you, Sharon, and I've ended up with probably the same results.
I will do a draft when it comes to writing a blog article on my forum.....

A bit of both for me, i will add stuff then delete or add. Generally mine is a general type forum so it isn't really that hard to add or move around, but i get my members to pick and choose what they want as well/

Back when I created my old forum, I spent a long time meticulously planning out exactly what I wanted to have. I wrote down on paper what forums I would have, what kind of topics to post in there, drafted style ideas and all kinds of details about the site. This was a really great way for me to organize my thoughts and get the site basically done before I even loaded the software onto the server If I went into the site just planning to do everything as I went, the site would never get done. I would lose motivation very easily because I would have no direction
