Have you ever fired a staff member because they simply do not fit in well with the rest of the staff team? I am guilty of this. I have fired someone of my staff because they simply never really fit in with any of the other teammates and the rest of the team basically never talked to said staff member and I didn't find it fair for someone to work on a team that they were not wanted in. Though I'll be honest, said staff member annoyed the crap out of everyone so I guess part of the reason I fired them was only partly because of that.

I believe team bonding is very important. I tend to prefer to work with people with a certain level of maturity and if individuals cannot learn to simply cooperate with each other and act professional for the sake of the community then I have no problem letting them both go if that is the case. Usually when it comes to a demotion it is a result of either someone not being able to meet expectations (lack of involvement, attendance, etc) ...or if they create unnecessary drama or if their personality simply does not jive with the overall atmosphere of the community.

He just wasn't active enough, and I didn't think someone who wasn't going to be on as frequent as the next person was going to work.

I've never fired someone for not fitting in. I fire someone if they argue and cause a lot of drama, though. I think those two things are completely different.

I don't mind when staff have to be inactive for a certain amount of time, however it can get annoying if they are constantly away and they don't give a notice. I know that everyone on the staff team are just volunteering their time but a courtesy notice is not a lot to ask for so when one doesn't give this courtesy then letting them go is the ultimate result. I've never fired someone for not fitting in. I fire someone if they argue and cause a lot of drama, though. I think those two things are completely different. I completely agree with you. It is one thing to not be able to understand the same humor as someone else for example to one that just purposely start arguments just for the fun of it. Instigators are just as guilty in my opinion even if they did not "start" the drama.

Disagreeing and arguing is two completely different things. If someone doesn't fit in, I'd do my best to help them. If they become a jerk and pull an "everyone hates me" type thing, I'd show them the door quickly. If they took it well and just took a step back to help repair themselves, there shouldn't be an issue.

Didn't fire anyone for not fitting in, and I never had to fire anyone for drama. I did fire a few people because I personally did not like how they were fitting into the team, though. It wasn't so much that they didn't gel with the team, but I just didn't like the way they were performing or going about their duties. I didn't really ever have to fire many people though

Never had to fire anyone due to not fitting to the team. Usually I ask my team members about the applicants, and if someone has troubles with the applicant we don't hire the said person.
