What do you think of this, would you let teenagers become staff? I personally would, if they have showed that they are mature and know what they are doing because at the end of the day, young people can be just as mature as us, some of them are more mature than some adults. Everyone deserves a chance and they are equal, if they do become staff, then I will treat them exactly like staff members.

I do have to say some teens just aren't fit for staff jobs. Some are completely immature and only do it for the power. If they are mature and can handle the job and actually take it seriously WITHOUT abusing powers, let them have the job. I myself am only 15.

I'm kind of skeptical on having them be staff, unless I have personally seen how mature they are. I mean, yeah, some of them are wise beyond their years and can definitely handle the staff position. But there are others who are obviously not equipped to handle the authority given to them and it's usually easy to judge shortly after interacting with them. Though when my forum first opened 11 years ago, one of my first members was 13 and he eventually was my right hand in the staff team. He was incredibly mature even at such a young age and he went above and beyond to help the forum, which I will be eternally grateful for. He's no longer active in the forum world, but I still keep in touch with him via Facebook and it's just so weird when I think how young he was when I first met him, and now he's in his mid-20s! So it really just depends on the teen.

I started being a mod when I was 12 and I am now 17. If you ask people I am either immature and nutty or mature and fun. I know some immature 60 year olds that type and act like ill-mannered negligent morons. With that said however, teens I think now make up most of the newer forums that are being created, so I think not having any kind of teenage staff members will put you in a pickle when it comes to recruitment. I remember when I first joined Teg and ⸗April⸗ on one of my first long-ish term positions and I was immature at times and mature at some, it really depends on the teen. I know for me there's just those days that I am positive I would ban the next person who ticked me off and other days where life is actually moving along and I am happy, you just have to find those people that can actually deal with what comes their way, both in real life and online. I do not think teens should be put in their own group per say, if someone fits the bill of being staff, then that's that. Teen or senior, it really doesn't matter.

Depends on how they act and how mature they are. I've personally seen people who get staff positions based on where they have been staff before. It doesn't work out too well if they aren't mature though. I don't have a problem with their age as long as they can try to act like a grown up and handle responsibilities when asked to.

It all depends upon nature of work as well as their attitude. i.e. are they interested in work? are they reliable?

I was first co owner at 13 and wish I hadn't been. although it doesn't depend on the age it depends on the person.

I agree with most people here that depends on the person over the age. Though in the past I've found most teens to be more active on the sites (Role-playing sites) Where the adults usually tend to have their own family that comes first. (Which is totally understandable. I have my own family, so I understand it) I find teens do tend to have a harder time holding back their feelings (Thus bringing drama to the forums) but then again, I have seen my fair share of adults bring along drama as well. Like I said, it really depends on the person. Some teens are up for the job, others are not.

There are plenty of 20-year old who aren't as mature as a 12-year-old. As said above, it depends on the teen. If the teen can actually dig into the details and be a great moderator, why should age stop them? Experience and levelheadedness is a much more important trait.

Maturity is absolutely key, like everyone has mentioned. I think it's also important for that person to have shown that they can be a good member and have a solid standing within the community before they can be considered staff as well. Beyond that, I don't think there's any reason to treat teen staff any differently. I myself am a teen and have owned forums and been staff on many, and I've worked with people far older than me who have been completely fine with my age. You just have to behave appropriately and maturely and you can go pretty far in life

As long as they're mature, have a good work ethic, and have time to deviated I don't mind and age doesn't really matter.

Age factor doesn't really play a role whether someone can become a staff member on my forum or not. I have came across several surprisingly mature teen forumers already. If the person is proven to be a nice member of my community and later on decides to apply to our staff team the application will be accepted.
