So for those who celebrate Christmas...
Do you have a real or fake tree that you decorate each year? What are the advantages of whichever one you have? Or what do you like most about that particular kind?

We use a fake tree. It's good quality and have been using it for the past 4yrs now.
Real trees are a headache to dispose of :/ We used to use real ones, I just can't be arsed anymore.

Haha, I know what you mean synthtec . We bought a fake tree just last year and I'd say the advantages far outweigh the ones from a real tree. I think the last time we had a real tree, we actually left it on the side of our driveway for almost the entire year because we'd keep forgetting to dispose of it properly. But I grew up always having a real tree, we actually had a tradition of going out to the tree farm in the bitter cold and picking out the perfect tree, my brother and I having fun with the owner's dogs (we always went to the same farm every year) and chasing each other around the whole place. Of course, back then I didn't have to worry about the disposal though, that was up to my mom. But I do sometimes miss having a real tree, specifically for that wonderful pine smell that accompanies it, but I don't miss trying to wrap lights around it, as we now have a pre-lit tree with little drops of snow, pine cones and berries mixed in on the branches.

If the house I'm living at now was mine, I would probably have a fake tree up. At least that one would be safer for the cats living with us (one actually climbed up into the tree that we had last year at least once).
Having a real tree is nice, but that would require a lot of care and a lot of cleanup. And if that goes down, it won't be pretty.

Honestly, I prefer a real tree. That said, I've not had a real tree since I was about ten years old. We talked about getting one this year, but since Torrey and Wyatt aren't home with us right now, there's not really a point. We'd only do it for the kids, and Chloe is too little to remember this Christmas anyway. So, we've got a pre lit tree up that we've had for three years now. It's decorated as we did that last week.

I prefer fake tree due to how messy a real tree is.

Currently we have a fake tree, though it isn't by choice. The heating in our house just wouldn't work with a real tree, so we decided we would prefer not to burn down the house. Hopefully someday when we move into a bigger house, we can have a real tree again. Luckily the one we have now isn't too bad. It's a very full tree for being fake.

I have a fake tree, but only because a member of my family is allergic to real trees. I didn't really like having a real tree, though, because of the needles going everywhere.
