Kidding. Anyway, I know so many admins and forums that ban gifs from avatars and signatures, however, what is everyones take on gifs here? Do you allow them on your forums, and if not, why on earth would you ban such a delicacy of the internet?

I think for me as long as they are of a decent size and dont impact on the forums loading times then they are fine. To be fair ive not really heard of many places that dont allow them. Dave

I think as well, be mindful that GIFs that flash contrasting colours on and off may cause problems in people with epilepsy, or other neurological conditions. Same goes for avatars really. And echoing Dave's concerns about performance degradation, this is actually a very good point. GIFs cause a full element repaint, even if the GIF is optimised to internally update only parts of the image that have changed. They also aren't hardware accelerated.

I really don't like GIFs on forums because they slow down the website.

I frequently post GIFs on my board, and others have as well. I sometimes use them for my avatars.
As long as they're not offensive and/or seizure inducing, I don't have a problem with those.

Gif images are heavy to be downloaded on devices fast and this hinder good user experience too, so some sites do not allow such images. Facebook do also not allow gif images while google plus allows it.
