Honestly, I've never tried GIMP. I've been using PhotoShop since as long as I can remember. Before that, it was Paint (lol). I have tried C4D and I really like that for specific things. Otherwise, I simply stick with PS as it's easy to use and there are thousands of excellent tutorials out there to help beginners and advanced users improve design techniques.
