A Haunted Halloween Short Story Contest As Halloween is right around the corner, I thought that we could allow our members to use their creative minds and write us a story. Halloween is a fun holiday for most people. That in mind, I'd like for you guys to get your minds reeling and write a short story related to Halloween. Please take a look at the following information. If you wish to participate in this event, you'll have to announce it in this thread. Here is the important information that you need to read. Rules & Guidelines- Any member, whether a regular user or a staff member, is permitted to participate in this event.
- Participates will write a short story containing a minimum of 4,000 words with a maximum limit of 7,000 words.
- All submissions for this contest must be submitted privately in the "A Haunted Short Story" sub-board located at the top of the Halloween Bash 2015 board. Again, the board is private so the only person who can see your entry is myself and the user who created the thread.
- All stories must be posted by 11:59 pm EST on October 31st, 2015.
- Winners will be announced on or before November 10th, 2015.
- All stories should be written in English and be related to Halloween. Please keep your stories at a PG-16 level (yes, I just made that up).
- Stories should be grammatically correct with the correct spelling, sentence structure, and punctuation.
- Only one entry per person is allowed.
- All stories must be written specifically for this contest and are not allowed to be posted anywhere else before the winners are announced.
Prizes- First Place: $25.00 USD PayPal $3000PC, 1 custom sub-domain (name.promoforum.net), and one custom email address or email forwarder (name@promoforum.net).
- Second Place: $1500 PC, 1 sub-domain, and one email address or email forwarder.
- Third Place: $500PC and one email address or email forwarder.
JudgingMembers of the staff team--who do not participate in this contest--will help with judging entries. Here are the things we'll be looking for during the judging round. - Spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure
- Plot, descriptions, character development, believability, etc.
- Word count
- The overall story
During the judging phase, all usernames will be removed from entries and will be replaced with a number. Doing this ensures there's no bias when judging is in progress.
In the event of a tie, the two stories chosen will be released to public view of the members. During that time, members will be able to vote on entries. The thread will be locked for replies and a poll added. Members will have one week to submit their votes. In the event that this happens, the winner announcement date will be pushed back until all votes are validated. *NOTE: If the writer is caught asking people to vote for their story, they will be disqualified from the contest and forfeit any place they may have taken.

I figured 4000 would be better suited as a minimum. Entries should be posted in a new thread in the short story sub board in the Halloween events board by the specified date. It must meet the minimum requirements. |

It must meet the minimum requirements. Alright. I actually submitted a 900 word story earlier just for fun. However, I believe I will have plenty of time to come up with a 4000-5000 short story. Is there anyway I can replace my current entry with a new one? Possibly delete the old one? |

Okay I am sitting here trying to create a good short story for halloween, and my brain sparks are flying but there is no way on this entire green earth that I will be able to reach 4,000 words. I am only at 600 words and I am almost half way through the story. Do you guys know how many people are really going to participate in this contest and create a 4,000 word story?

Okay I am sitting here trying to create a good short story for halloween, and my brain sparks are flying but there is no way on this entire green earth that I will be able to reach 4,000 words. I am only at 600 words and I am almost half way through the story. Do you guys know how many people are really going to participate in this contest and create a 4,000 word story? As it sits, we only have one for sure, already submitted. Another person has laid claim to writing for this contest, but other than that, no other entries. |

Just for further clarification, I will be submitting something also, just taking my time to write the story because that's how I work, lol. Especially since this is the first story that I've written from pure imagination, so it's taking a bit longer for me. As it sits, we only have one for sure, already submitted.
