A question was brought up yesterday about allowing users to purchase our forum currency with real money. The staff have discussed it and have decided to let you guys vote on this. However, here are the good and bad things we've discussed about implementing it.
- In a way, purchasing the PC will contribute to the forum as all proceeds will go into the forum for domain, hosting the domain, and possible cash prizes for contests in the future etc. - Some of us feel like users should earn PC$ as purchasing can be considered "cheating" and it's felt that some people who purchase the PC$ might not contribute posts/content to the forum, which is essentially the point of every forum.
*IF we were to implement such a think, we'd set a few certain amounts and users would only be able to actually purchase an amount after a specified period which is yet to be determined. So say a user purchases some PC$, they may have to wait 3-6 before they are allowed to purchase again.
Alright, so what are your thoughts? Post in the thread and vote in the poll. The poll will be open for one week.

I'm the one who asked for this. I'm a busy person, and I don't mind supporting places I find a tad interesting. No harm done if it's not allowed. But, I thought the nature of this type of forum would allow it.
I'm curious of what the members believe, and I will respect that decision.

I like that you plan to use it to give back to the site. Well, of course! Why wouldn't I? Well, I guess that I could see how some people wouldn't, but that's not me. As the owner, and creator, I'm usually pretty honest and straight forward. I don't BS or scam people. Several people from the intraweb world we live in can tell you that.

Good for you! I met many people who would simply pocket the money for themselves.
One thing I do think that should be clarified about a real currency transaction for PC would be: It can't be "pay to win". So nothing exclusive for people who donate real money. Everything sold here with PC$ should be obtainable without having to donate. But, people donating real money can give a boost to the local board economy.
And a question: do members of your package team get a part of the PC$ spent for helping fulfill the request?

And a question: do members of your package team get a part of the PC$ spent for helping fulfill the request? Well, with a sponsorship we plan to add two exclusive things for them... Like, maybe, sub-domains, and custom email addresses which would remain in effect until we closed our doors, but we're far from starting that sort of thing. But, at some point, we'll announce something like that. I do agree with the rest. The Package Team, Crit Platoon, and Mod Squad get paid PC cash on the first and fifteenth of each month. Each team has a different pay rate. Packagers get paid depending on the type of packages they do (how many posts, threads, and comments), reviewers get paid based on the type of review and an amount set up by the TL. Mod Squad has a flat rate. Either way, since there hasn't been any requests, they will all be getting paid a specific amount on the first.

Wow! Overwhelming support in favor of it. I would've thought there would be some opposition!

Yeah nick, I was expecting the vote to go the way it has but i did think there maybe at least some opposition. I think its only fair that if you guys want to help donate to the premium features of this forum eg: custom domain, Ad Free etc Then its only fair that all proceeds are actually used for this. Dave

I personally say no. I've seen other sites where even unintentionally those who donate start to believe they are better then other members

I personally say no. I've seen other sites where even unintentionally those who donate start to believe they are better then other members I do see and understand that point. It does happen a lot, especially at sites that I've experienced the following at: - Donor's only contests.
- Donor's only anything.

That won't be the case here. Users who buy PC will purchase it to gain quicker access to things they can buy with PC like custom domains, custom emails, and courses that we will implement in the future. Or maybe they just want to donate, but there will not be any donor anything with the exception of a VIP forum. And even that hasn't been decided upon yet.
