I think everyone has a different opinion about this; whether you ban image advertising or whatever, but in general, do you allow people to advertise in their signatures? What limits do you have on signatures, do you require a certain post count or maybe you don't allow images?

I do allow people to advertise in their signature. However, I do have restrictions on how big their signature can be. Anything too big seems like a distraction and takes away from the discussions going on. So, I allow it to as long as they don't go overboard.

I am okay with people advertising in their signatures as long as they contribute positively to the discussion and stay on topic. Of course they can't advertise any adult like websites or anything illegal but for other forums then sure, why not? I don't understand why some forums have a big problem with this.

I think every webmaster should allow signature advertising, otherwise why would someone want to spend time on your forum, if they don't get anything in return.

I agree with ron. Webmasters of other sites should get signature opportunity from you so that could advertise through their signatures positively.

I don't mind users posting signature advertisements, but I do think it takes away from forums. Links don't need to be big and flashy to grab the attention of others and neither do images. Hence, there's restrictions to the number of links, sizes of images, and styling of ads in signatures on this site. Though, users can purchase link space from the shop.

Why not? There's nothing wrong g with signature advertising, it only gives the members a bit of freedom.

I don't mind it when people advertise in the forums. As a matter of fact, I encourage it. I believe members who desire to advertise in their signature has intentions of posting everywhere in the forum for maximum exposure. Of course, I believe there should be a limit...some people might get carried away and make their signatures HUGE or distracting. I know for myself in the past whenever I was allowed to advertise in signature I found helping out others was GREAT exposure.

My members have the option of making a post where all of the other advertisements go or adding a link to their site in their signature. I didn't specify how big the text could be, but I did make a banner size/lines of text limit, just in case people wanted to go overboard.
I just don't want to see signatures that are bigger than 90 percent of their posts.

I used to allow signatures. On both of my forums I do advertise websites that I like. I am picky. I just do not advertise any forum.
One forum admin, deleted my signature because that forum said signatures were advertising. Each admin has different rules and conditions on this matter.

On both of my forums I have a spot for internet sites to visit. I just decide what website or forum gets advertised. I do not allow just any or all advertisements.

I allow them and don't have a rule that equire a certain post count (but there's a limit of how many images they can put... that's because I don't want the signatures to be too long)
